It’s as common as night and day, person wants to ‘lose weight, person runs runs runs, diets diets diets, relapses, yoyo’s repeats.
Creates stories as to why ‘it never works for them’ and then settles for a life of lethargy, low personal self-esteem, and excess weight…which then increases the risk of premature death…savage picture…but true.
This has nothing to do with poor discipline.
It has everything to do with focus, goal setting (or lack of), and a selection from a flawed system with misaligning values to principles.
The biggest one in the health and fitness industry is arguably the system of nutrition.
DIETS, FADS, QUICK FIXES…A.K.A, ‘the pull your trousers down, spank you on the rear and run away laughing’ system…
The value is, fast weight loss, quick fix, diets = success, I don’t need professional help, guidance, and/or support, I’m motivated…that’ll be enough.
Oh yes, the biggest one, the expectation of the result without the genuine stimulus to create, remember the Chinese Bambo Tree?
‘I’ve started a diet, I should lose 5lbs a week for the next 6 months’… um naaaooooooooo.
The principles for genuine success within that area of life are overlooked because of the ‘grab’, the ‘now’, the ‘fast fast fast’ mentality…
This is a crucial part of your dream life transformation.
Realigning values to principles to what is, IS! your key set of decisions for your chosen path.
I can tell you now if they don’t align…
You will not be able to access those fulfilling results….sustainably.
Hence the title, you can not catch the sunset running east.
No matter how much you want to achieve your health and fitness goals, that energy, confidence, weight loss, fat loss, muscle gain, and much more.
Without the appropriate principles, IT WILL NOT HAPPEN, or if ‘it does’, it’ll not sustain because of imbalance.
The system selection is VITALLY important.
Setting great goals, but using systems that are principally broken still means you don’t achieve.
It’s kind of like saying you want to travel to the states from the UK in nothing other than a three-wheeler without getting on a plane…not going to happen.
Below is a small overview of the main systems and a little pressie from mwah…
Exercise: Something that you enjoy, contextually stimulates you, something that doesn’t deteriorate your joint health, promotes good movement and posture, biomechanically balanced, physiologically balanced, a regime that involves soft tissue care and posture alignment, a regime that is realistic, and consistent.
Those ab challenges in X amount of days, or those fad pieces of equipment you see on the TV that promises a body like the model has who is demo’ing the product but didn’t use it to look like that, the ‘you must run to get fit’, the hyper bouncy jumps high energy stuff that smashes your knees, shoulders and back to pieces…ARE. ONLY. GOING. TO…..waste your time and money.
If you are not sure, seek help in that area.
I will be developing programs for this also, so keep an eye out for that.
A universally sound exercise plan will serve you. A fad will serve the provider at your expense of time, money, and maybe more time through injuries due to imbalanced delivery.
Nutrition: Learning how to nourish yourself with whole foods, with a balanced meal building, from foods you like, from foods that don’t cause digestive upset or trigger allergies, and in conjunction with your biological values, activity levels, and your exercise frequency.
Over our lifetimes, our diets will change, even in the course of a year, depending on how those above variables can develop, etc.
The key here is not to apply as much will power to a ‘diet’ to lose some weight’…it’s to learn the principles of how to nourish your body to allow your hormones, organs, blood flow, energy levels, body composition, performance, and vitality all to function in a tip-top way.
That IS A LEARNING PROCESS, learning those principles and mastering them will give you the best results you will have ever accessed, all in a way that is realistic, achievable, and flexible.
The nutrition system and the exercise system are both so broad and massive I have made two separate programs for these alone… I urge you to take these on board as well, and they will serve you and educate you in a way that gives you no choice but to succeed beyond your current set of beliefs.
Here’s a quick start guide to good nutrition for you from the ebook I wrote…Do or ‘Diet. It’ll help with your understanding of the universal principles of nutrition.
Hydration: Drinking enough fluids to sustain your blood flow, cellular efficiency, nerve impulses, chemical reactions in the body that is responsible for all that we are, and sooooo much more.
Hydration isn’t just about drinking water, it’s about getting the all-important electrolytes that are responsible for the electrical current for those chemical reactions to take place for our functioning. Electrolytes come from whole foods. See the pattern? 😉
Sleep: This is our charge, without this, we are vulnerable to emotional decision-making, drained, stressed, and fatigued…We need sleep or cognition, alertness, hormone balance, energy…the art of getting a good night’s sleep is often overlooked when it comes to health care, nutrition and exercise get all of the limelight…But without decent sleep, nutrition and exercise won’t be having the same outcomes.
Mindset: Running growth-oriented paradigms, breaking limiting beliefs, setting goals, applying the helpful values to the principles of the above systems, overcoming adversity, learning discipline and balance…that’s your system
I’ll end on this…
Values alone won’t deliver the long-term sustainable result…because values may overlook the principles of the above processes…and more often than not, they do…something to do with societal cookie-cutter pressures.
If people are looking for maximum benefit after minimum input, quick fixes, short cuts, and diet plans…the values held towards those will not match the principles for real growth…not just with health and fitness, but in all that you/we/people do (relationships, promotions, running a business).
It’s critically important for your success to learn those principles, practice them, be performance orientated, and in control of honest ownership of that.
With that and the values of appropriate personal management, you’ll achieve anything you want to achieve, ESPECIALLY with your Health & Fitness.
You won’t actually believe how easy it will be 😉
What questions does this raise for you?
Does this help you with clarity?
How can you level up?
As always, the very best,
Paul
