Everything comes down to mind-set and the choices at the crossroads presented to us on a daily basis.
From what we wear, what thoughts we give power to, how we make our bed, how we interact with people, what we eat, when we workout and when we go to sleep.
EVEN PROCRASTINATION, is an action, and that’s still a choice. yes it is. yes it is yes it is yes it is.
It’s an outcome from some kind of fear, lack of planning and/or a lack of situational know-how.
Think about it, what is the very thought, the string of words that you tell yourself when you skip a workout or eat junk?…and what’s missing to enable that accountability?
Success in getting that desired momentum going is to fast track the decision making process when it comes to the choice of actions, giving power to logical and disarming those emotions.
To workout vs. not working out, eating healthy balanced meals vs. eating garbage, staying up late to watch tv vs. getting a decent night’s sleep, saying no to processed snacks vs. binging on sugary foods.
here’s 3 ‘hacks’ to give you more power towards your decision making process for the good of your physical and mental health, your productivity and your consistency.
- Scheduling your workouts – this creates a a minds-eye notion to the action, it creates accountability and structure.
- Planning what your exercise session will consist of – what kind of exercise will you do? cardio, HIIT, HIT, strength, conditioning etc – distances, tempos, reps, sets, rest periods etc – with a plan, all you have to do is show up and apply.
- Associate the session to just getting the warm up done – it’s easy to ‘take the evening off’ through the thought of a gut busting session after a long day. get the warm up done and once you’ve done that, you’ll be in the zone.
Emotionally, it can be difficult, sometimes you may feel like you are flat out on the floor and anything other than crawling into a hole is the best thing…BUT, logically, that doesn’t serve, the victim mentality of feeling sorry for yourself will only make things worse. Do not do that. do not do not do not.
Be strong, plan your s**t, show up and be consistent.
You will see results.
Do not let your short term emotional ‘wants’ overpower your long term logical musts and needs…you are stronger than that.
It’s not about more, it’s about smart, build that mind-set.
